Freeman I. Corkum
Freeman I. Corkum, 95, passed away peacefully at his
home with family by his side on Sunday October 24, 2021. He was the
husband of the late Betty Ann Corkum.
Born in Gloucester, he attended Gloucester High
School and later enlisted in the Army, serving in World War II. Following
his honorable discharge he went on to graduate from Bentley University. He
moved to Ipswich and opened Janice’s Lunchonette before becoming the owner
of Salem’s Old Fashioned Candies in Salem.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and
loved boating and fishing with his son and family.
Freeman is survived by his son, Freeman I. Corkum, Jr
and his wife Donna of Ipswich, his daughter Lisa B. Corkum of Ipswich, and
his brother Robert Corkum and his wife Peggy of Salisbury. He also leaves
behind five grandchildren, Dr Kristine Corkum of Denver, CO, William
Corkum of Beverly, Kimberly Corkum of Boston, and Casey Lubell and George
Lubell, both of Ipswich, and two great-grandchildren, Harper Bailey Lister
and Avery Mae Corkum.
Private funeral arrangements are by the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
