Frederick D. “Rick”
Phillips, 69, of Ipswich, formerly of Lynn, and husband of
thirty-eight years of Dorothy A. (Fiasconaro) Phillips, died
peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in the Kaplan Family Hospice
House, Danvers.
Born in Lynn the
only child of the late Frederick D. and Virginia A. (Popp) Phillips,
he was raised in Lynn and was a 1966 graduate of Lynn English High
School.
The Phillips married
in 1977 in the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Lynn.
After working as a
Systems Analyst for Stone and Webster Engineering, Mellon Bank and
Electric Insurance, Rick made a mid-life career change. He attended
Salem State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in
Social Work then attended Simmons College where he received a
Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work. He fulfilled his dream
when he opened his private practice in Danvers.
Rick had a great
sense of humor and loved reading, nature, gardening, music, the
ocean and animals. He wrote poetry and was a fabulous cook. He was
admired for his ability to connect with everybody he met. His
family members and friends will miss his smiling face.
In addition to his
wife he is survived by his aunt Evelyn Sim of AZ, many cousins,
nieces, nephews, and his canine companion, Lola.
His funeral service
will be held 11 am Friday, May 19 in the Ascension Memorial Church,
31 County Street, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the
direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of
flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to the
Ipswich Humane Group, P.O. Box 873, Ipswich, MA 01938 and, or
Ipswich Food Pantry, P.O. Box 316, Ipswich, MA 01938.
