Frances A. (Hardy) Carey

Frances A. (Hardy) Carey, 95, wife of the late John J. Carey, died Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Maplewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Amesbury following her long illness.

Born in Rowley August 28, 1920,  daughter of the late Herman and Sarah (McGlew) Hardy, she was raised in Rowley and Newburyport, and was a  1937 graduate of Newburyport High School. Frances  was the former wife of the late Roy Marr who perished in battle during World War II.  Marrying John Carey in 1945 the Careys soon made their home and raised their family from Weathersfield Road, Rowley. With a grown family she worked for several years as a  teller in a Salisbury bank and later worked at Bostick Chemical in Middleton.

She is survived by three sons, John J. Carey and his wife Leslie of Foxborough, Robert H. Carey and his wife Elizabeth and Peter E. Carey all of Rowley; nine grandchildren, Shannon Falzone of SC, Brian Carey of Ipswich, Leanne Carey and Heather Carey both of Foxborough, Sean, Michael, Alexandra, Delaney and McKenzie Carey all of Rowley and two great grandchildren Nathaniel and Arianna Falzone of SC.  She was the sister of the late Robert Hardy formerly of Rowley.

Funeral services are private.
