Evelyn J. (Cook) Hetnar
Hetnar, 91, loving mother and Nana, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the
Masconomet Healthcare Center, Topsfield surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Danvers March 27, 1927 daughter of the late Eugene and Mabel
(Casey) Cook, she was raised in Ipswich and was a 1945 graduate of
Ipswich High School. She married Walter A. Hetnar on September 23, 1945
and made their home on Town Farm Road where they established the Hetnar
Farm Stand and raised seven children. Evelyn also worked as a CNA at
Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly for twenty-five years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Our Lady of Hope Parish, the
Catholic Women's Club and TOPS. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing,
crafts, collecting and traveling. The unconditional love she radiated
through her beautiful heart was shared by all that knew her.
She is survived by her family, Margaret wife of the late Frank Taylor,
Carol and Thomas Abbott Jr., Evelyn "Buffy" and Charles Kilgour, JoAnne
and Eddie Sikora, Walter and Teresa Hetnar, Michael Hetnar and Lorraine
Fowler, Sally and Kenny Ledbury; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen
great-grand children. She is also survived by two brothers and their
spouses Richard and Kathy Cook, and Donald and Gale Cook; three sisters,
Dorothy Tabor, Vivian Gove and Marjorie Cook; many nieces, nephews and
many long time friends.
Her funeral will be held Thursday 9 am from the Whittier-Porter Funeral
Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed by the celebration of Funeral
Mass of Christian Burial 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp
Road, Ipswich. Interment will be in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery,
Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours
will be Wednesday 5 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions in her name may be
made to Masconomet Healthcare Activities Fund, 123 High Street,
Topsfield, MA 01983.
