Elsie (MacGregor) Gazeaud, 93, longtime of Jeffreys Neck Road,
Ipswich, quietly went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 16,
2009, following her long illness. She was the wife of the late Frank
W. Gazeaud who died in 1986.
Born in Ipswich August 11, 1916, daughter of the late Frank and Emma
(Todd) MacGregor, she attended Ipswich public schools and the Fanny
Farmer School of Cooking in Boston. For several years she cooked for
several North Shore families, later working as a cook in the Ipswich
public schools. Married in 1946, she made her home and raised her
family at her Jeffrey's Neck Road address.
If Elsie wasn’t sewing her pillow tops and wall hangings, she was
delivering you clam chowder, bread pudding, River Store ginger
cookies or walking with her friends on Great and Little Necks. She
and her sister Edna spent many a day volunteering at the Ipswich
Information Booth.
Elsie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ipswich and
the Ipswich Council on Aging where she sang with the Silver Strands
choral group, entertaining residents at area nursing homes.
She is survived by several nephews and nieces and close friends. She was the
mother of the late Edward Gazeaud of Ipswich, sister of the late
Caswell MacGregor of Philadelphia, Warren MacGregor of Ipswich and
twin Edna Hamm of Phoenix.
Elsie will be memorialized during the 9:00 AM worship service on
Sunday November 29 in the United Methodist Church. Arrangements are
under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Ipswich
Community Food Pantry, 31 North Main Street, Ipswich MA
01938.
