Barth, 91, husband of Barbara E. (Burbridge) Barth of
Ipswich, died Monday, May 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving
family in the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers, following his brief illness.
Born May 15,
1922 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Paul A. and Anna (Miller) Barth, he
was raised in
PA where he was a graduate of
public schools. During World War II he served his enlistment
with the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic Theatre, Honorably
Discharged as a Chief Yeoman.
He went on to
attend Bentley College of Finance, graduating in 1951, then
going on to graduate with BBA and Honors from Northeastern
University in Boston. Coming to Ipswich
he made his home and married the late Ruth B. (Stone)
Barth. The Barths relocated to Branford, CT in
July of 1956 where he joined the Rockbestos
Products Corporation in
CT as Chief
Accountant. Here he successively became Assistant Treasurer
in 1957; Treasurer/Controller in 1959; Manufacturing Manager
in 1972; Vice-President Manufacturing in 1974 and
Vice-President of Operations in 1984, the title he held at
retirement in 1986. Senior employees of the company elected
him President of their Hourglass Club in 1984. After
changing his career goals to manufacturing operations, he
served on various committees on the Wire Association and
with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).
He was also active in Manufacturers Association of Greater
New Haven, CT, serving as Vice-President and Director. In
October 1961, along with two others he formed Applied Data
Inc. North Haven, CT.
He served as
President of the National Association of Accountants, New
Haven Chapter, and was a member and director of The
Financial Executive Institute, Southern CT Chapter; Trustee
and Chairman of the Auditing Committee, Ipswich Savings
Bank; member of Board of Governors, Children's Center, New
Haven, CT; a director and member of the Advisory Group to
the Governor, CT Public Expenditures Council and the
Director of the New Haven Taxpayers Association.

Heard Masonic Lodge AF&AM where he had held the position of
Secretary for twelve years. In 1990 he became a member of
the Active York Rite and rose to the position of
Excellent High Priest, serving from 2001-2004.
in boating and fishing led to him to serving in 1976 as the
Commodore of the Branford Yacht Club, Branford, CT.
In Ipswich he became a
Charter Member and Director of the Ipswich Outboard Club,
where for over fifty years he had held the positions
of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary and
had held an honorary membership for his many years of
service. In 2010 the Ipswich Outboard Club boat ramp was
dedicated in his name. Along with boating and clamming the
waters of Ipswich, he enjoyed annual family vacations on

his wife Barbara he is survived by a daughter Rebecca
Gallucci, her husband Mark; their two children, Katherine
A. and Sara E. Gallucci all of New Milford, CT and several nephews and nieces. He was the
husband of the late Ruth B. (Stone) Barth formerly of
Ipswich who died in 1990; father of the late infant son,
Richard M. Barth and brother of the late Paul Barth formerly
of PA, Frederick Barth formerly of MD and Ruth Ehlers
formerly of NJ.
funeral service will be 10 am Monday, May 12 in the
Linebrook Congregational Church,
391 Linebrook Road, Ipswich,
followed by interment with Military Honors in the
Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours
will be Sunday 4 to 7 pm in the John T. Heard Masonic Lodge
with a Masonic Service at 6:30 pm.
