Ellen Eliza (Marsh) Dorman, 95, beloved wife of the late Ernest
S. Dorman of Redgate Road Essex, died Monday April 17, 2017 in
her home following her long illness. Born in Grand Falls,
Newfoundland she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Louisa
(Hutchings) Marsh. Ellen and a friend left home during WWII to
perform defense factory work in Toronto. With the end of the war
she came to visit an aunt and uncle in Essex where she met her
late husband, Ernest.
For many years she worked as a housekeeper for Richard M.
Russell. During this employment many fond memories were made as
she cheered her Red Sox at Fenway from Mr. Russell’s front row
box seats. Ellen also enjoyed watching the ducks and the boats
from her house on the lake.
She is survived by a son, David Dorman of Essex, two daughters,
Sheila Bassett of Essex, Shirley Gallant of Ft. Myer’s FL; three
grandchildren, Luke Bassett and his wife Breann of Beverly,
Kimberley and Christina Dorman both of Essex; a brother, Arthur
Marsh and his wife Ilene of Newfoundland; a former
daughter-in-law, Michelle Dorman of Peabody and special friends,
Bonnie and Guy Hiroshima of CA.
Her funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday in the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by
interment in the Spring Street Cemetery, Essex. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed.
