Eleanor M. (Gallant) Wile, 87, lifelong of Ipswich and wife of the
late Gardner L. Wile, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 in the Stephen
Caldwell Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ipswich,
following her long illness.
Born in Ipswich January 24, 1922, daughter of the late Manuel and
Matilda (Porier) Gallant, she attended St. Stanislaus Parochial
School and was a graduate of Ipswich High School.
Married in 1941, the Wiles made their home and raised their
family on Mt. Pleasant Avenue, later living for six years on Maple
Avenue and for more than twenty-five years on Dartmouth Road. She
resided at Cable Gardens since 2000 until her move to the Caldwell
Home in 2006. While raising her family she worked in the Ipswich
school cafeterias, later working for many years at Sylvania
in Ipswich and most recently at Varian in Beverly, from which she
retired.
She
was a lifelong communicant of St. Stanislaus Parish and Our of Lady
of Hope Church and a longtime member of the Ipswich VFW #1093
Auxiliary.
She
is survived by three sons, David W. Wile and his wife Wendy, Robert
R. Wile and his wife Stephanie all of Ipswich and Richard B. Wile
and his wife Geri of Huntington Beach, CA; nine grandchildren,
Heidi Kent of Rowley, Erick Schwartz of Ipswich, Jodie Schwartz of
Danvers, Michelle Kelley of Newmarket, NH, Randy Wile of Ipswich,
Robert Wile, Jr. of Ipswich, Scott Wile of Charleston, SC, Ana
Rousseau of Ipswich and Traci Wile of Chicago, IL ; ten great
grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many nephews and
nieces. She was the mother of the late Geraldine Schwartz of
Ipswich and sister of the late Edmund Gallant, Albert Gallant, Alex
Gallant, Robert Gallant, Delia Marcaurelle, Lucy Rathe, Adele Gillis
and Edna Michaud, all of Ipswich, the late Albany Gallant of
Newbury, and the late Florence Zlokowski of Ipswich and FL.
Her
funeral will be held Friday December 11, 2009, at 10 am from the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by a
Funeral Mass at 11 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Road,
Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting
hours are Thursday 4 to 8 pm . Interment will be in the Cowles
Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may
