Elaine Louise Spang

Elaine Louise Spang, 71, a longtime resident of Ipswich, passed away
peacefully on November 23, 2022 after a brief illness with her loving
family at her side. She will be remembered as a wonderful daughter,
sister, mother, aunt and friend, who never turned down an opportunity to
spend time at the beach and was always surrounded by her loving
animals. Elaine was truly one-of-a-kind and will be dearly missed.
Elaine was born in Buffalo, New York on April 26, 1951 to the late John H.
Spang and Helen L. (Riley) Spang. After graduating from St. Mary Girls
High School in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1969, Elaine attended Merrimack
College in North Andover. There she met her future husband Philip M.
DiPietro and in 1976 they were married at St. Eulalia Church in
Winchester.
She earned a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) designation from Massachusetts
General Hospital in Boston.
She
is survived by her sons Daniel A. DiPietro and his wife Torrey of
Wellesley, Michael J. DiPietro of Ipswich; three grandchildren, Lyla,
Quinn and Ryder DiPietro; a brother John H. Spang and his wife Jacqueline
of Old Greenwich, CT; her stepmother-in-law, May DiPietro Futrell of
Newburyport; and several nieces and extended family. Elaine was
pre-deceased by her former husband, Philip M. DiPietro.
A celebration of
her life is planned for all family and friends on April 29, 2023 in
Ipswich, with details to be provided as that date approaches. Arrangements
by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Remembrances can be made
to
Massachusetts Humane Society
or to a charity of one’s choosing.
