Edward F. Paquin, Sr 

Edward F. Paquin, Sr., 90, husband of the late Charlotte A. (Dow) Paquin, died Friday, December 18, 2020 in his Linden Street, Ipswich home following a long illness. Born in New York City on December 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Doyle) Paquin. Ed was raised in Ipswich where he attended public schools. He left school at the age of seventeen to serve an enlistment In Alaska with the U.S. Air Force. In 1951 he and Charlotte eloped. The Paquins soon made their home on Pleasant Street where they raised their family of seven children.

Ed had been employed at the former Ipswich Dairy until 1969, when he went on to work for The Trustees at Cranes Beach and Castle Hill. For years he was a familiar face and helping hand to all who visited the reservation. During these years he also did some clamming, and taxi driving. He had also been employed as a darkroom technician at the former House of Hinlin Photography in Ipswich. In retirement Ed spent his time clamming and with his friends at Candlewood golf course where he helped with mowing the grounds and repairing equipment. During these many years he also served as a custodian and sexton at the at the First Church in Ipswich. He was a very busy man.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Ham and husband Dave of ME; four sons, Donald Paquin and his wife Patricia of Ipswich, Brian J. Paquin and his wife Pamela of Ipswich, Mark J. Paquin and his wife Holly of Raymond, NH, Timothy Paquin and his friend Sheryl of AZ; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Paquin of Rowley, and many nephews and nieces. He was the father of the late Edward F. Paquin, Jr. formerly of Ipswich, the late Kevin Paquin formerly of Rowley, and brother of the late Robert Paquin formerly of Amesbury and the late Gertrude Paquin formerly of Merrimac.

A private  funeral service with Military Honors will be held graveside in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery,  Ipswich at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to First Church of Ipswich, 1 Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich, MA 01938 and/or Raven Pines Dog Rescue, 15488 South Black Mountain Rd, Cordes Lakes AZ 86333.
