Dorothy L. (Marks) Waters

 

Dorothy L. (Marks) Waters, 80, longtime resident of Linebrook Road, Ipswich, and wife of the late John J. Waters, Sr., died Sunday, January 26, 2020 in the High Pointe House Hospice, Haverhill following her brief illness.

Born in Chelsea on September 12, 1939 she was one of the two children of the late Lester and Blanche (Flight) Marks. Dorothy was raised in Revere where she attended public schools. Married in Revere the Waters made their home in Malden soon moving to Ipswich 1963 where they raised their family. In her adult life Dorothy she was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her seven children. With a grown family she went to work for the next ten or more years in food service dept. at the former Caldwell Nursing Home in Ipswich from which she retired. Dorothy enjoyed her many shopping trips, which always included lunch, with her daughters, bird watching and her many dogs, including “Maggie.”

Dorothy is survived by a son, Kenneth Waters of Ipswich; five daughters, Sharon Waters and her partner Gerome Curcuru of Gloucester, Barbara Vinciguerra and her husband Tony of Byfield, Diane Waters and her partner Paul Cogger of Somersworth, NH, Cheryl Langlais and her husband Brian of Ipswich, Donna Knudtson and her husband Lee of Kingston, NH; a “special daughter-in-law” Debra Waters of Rowley and many, many grandchildren. She was the mother of the late John J. Waters, Jr. formerly of Rowley and sister of the late Donald Marks formerly of Revere.

Her funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, January 31 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by interment in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially welcomed. Visiting hours will be Thursday 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to the MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
