Doane C. Pressey

Doane C. Pressey, of Wenham, formerly of Georgia, died April 11, 2012 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following his brief illness. He was the husband of the late Muriel Suzanne Powers.

Born in Beverly July 9, 1945, the son of the late John and Marjorie V. (Nickerson) Presssey, he was a 1964 graduate of Saugus High School. He was employed for twenty five years at Ingalls Supermarket in Georgia, retiring as a manager in 2007. He was a parishioner of the Linebrook Church in Ipswich and the Acworth United Methodist Church in Georgia. He enjoyed bible study and Adult Sunday School and the Asbury Grove Campmeeting in Hamilton. An artist who enjoyed painting and photography, he will be remembered for his devotion to his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Christine Conway, Doane Pressey, Jr, and Kenneth Pressey; grandchildren Jonathan Conway, Matthew Conway, Daniel Conway, Matthew Werpecinisky, Christopher Pressey and Nathan Pressey; his sisters, Carrilee Gerniglia, Laurie Shea, Rachel Kilgour, Deborah Viggiano and Jaye Viggiano; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Lamson, Nancy Janvrin, Heather Colby, Eileen Lemire, David Shea, Michael Shea, Jason Kilgour, Mark Kilgour, Diana Caswell, Michael Viggiano, Melissa O’Leary, Jonathan Viggiano and Amanda Viggiano; and their children Elizabeth and Rachel Lamson, Sarah, Hannah and Kerrie Janvrin, Hollace and Riley Colby, Ryan and Ashley Lemire, Adam, Leah and Isaac Shea, Victoria and Emerson Kilgour, John and Evan Kilgour, Kylee, Courtney and Thomas Caswell, Emma Lacey, Ali Viggiano, Peyton Viggiano, and Hayden and Luke Viggiano. He is also survived by a close friend, Denise Melanson who was “just like a sister”, and her son Brian Melanson.

His funeral service was held Sunday April 15 in the Linebrook Church. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Linebrook Church Organ Fund, 391 Linebrook Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.
