Deborah A. Sheridan
Deborah A. Sheridan, 65, wife of Jan Struyde of
Edge Street, Ipswich, died peacefully and in the presence of her family
Saturday, July 4, 2020, at North Shore Medical Center, Salem, following a
long battle with complications of COVID-19.
Born at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on December 2,
1954, she was the daughter of the late Peter Sheridan Sr and Louise
(Bushee) Sheridan, and the eldest of five sisters and a brother. She was
raised in Melrose and educated in the Melrose Public School system. Before
marrying, Deborah had also lived in Colorado, Plymouth, and North Adams,
and during her married years in Melrose, Lynn, Marblehead, and Ipswich.
She graduated from North Adams State College in 1975 and from Salem State
College in 1986, with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
Deborah was employed as a
registered nurse at Boston City Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital,
several North Shore hospices and nursing homes, and most recently as
infection control nurse and staff developer at Maplewood Rehabilitation
and Nursing Center in Amesbury. She was a sweet, wise, compassionate, and
humble clinician and caregiver committed to her patients, residents, and
coworkers. Deborah loved politics, attended political rallies, and had
wanted to obtain an absentee ballot for the upcoming national elections.
She loved her garden, two dogs, cat, horse, folk music and the Me&Thee
Coffee House, walks, the mountains and, most of all, her families of
origin and procreation. Her greatest joys in life were gathering with her
siblings, FaceTiming daily with her two daughters, and being a magical
Nana to her grandson.
In addition to her husband
Jan of thirty-three years, she is survived by two daughters, Nina Struyde
of Beverly; Natalia Struyde and
partner Anthony Genest; a grandson Nathaniel of Marblehead; stepson Jared
Struyde of Peabody; five sisters, Terry Sheridan of Bedford, Kathy Franco
of Clarksburg, Paula Borah and her husband Stephen Borah of Williston, VT,
Patty Sheridan and her husband Timothy Rodrigues of Amesbury, Andrea
(Sheridan) Trojano wife of the late Robert Trojano of Dorchester and a
brother Peter Sheridan and his wife Nora (Meany) Sheridan of Amesbury. She
is also survived by
and nephews including Eli Franco and Alyse Franco, Julie and Andy Borah,
Abby and Stanley Rodrigues, James Sheridan, Gregory Sheridan and his
spouse Melissa and Michelle and Katie Trojano. She loved each and all.
Deborah will also be missed but celebrated by many friends and workmates
through the years which included Pat Sawyer, Kathy Zetes, Melissa
Lariviere, and her lifelong friend Maureen Keene of Reading, who had
introduced her to her future husband.
Her “Hello, hello, hello!” as she came home through
the front door ten thousand times will be forever remembered.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home
of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to North Shore
Medical Center or to a hospice or charity of one’s choice.
