David Barry O’Connor

David Barry O’Connor, 67, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Ipswich, passed away
peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in the Exeter Hospital.
He was born in Ipswich on December 18, 1952 the son
of the late Barry C. and Jeannette (Gerow) O’Connor of High Street. David
was raised in Ipswich and was a 1971 graduate of Ipswich public schools.
He went on to serve with the U.S. Air Force in Florida. Following his
discharge, he returned to Ipswich and started his family. During the
1980’s and mid-1990’s, he was employed at Ipswich Shellfish Company. Most
recently, and until his retirement, he was employed as Maintenance
Director at Portsmouth International Airport.
He will be remembered for his ability to make
friends. You could often find him sitting comfortably on his front porch
talking to all the passers-by. David was a lover of all animals.
He is survived by his four
sons; Barry C. O’Connor II and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester, Ryan P.
O’Connor of New London, CT, Bradley D. O’Connor of Woodstock, CT, David M.
Lawrence of Nottingham, NH; a granddaughter, Rayna Lawrence; a sister,
Janet Davis and her husband Richard of Dublin, NH, and their daughter
Teresa of
NJ;
a grandniece, Samantha Adams, and who
will deeply miss him, his close friend Kathleen “Kat”.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in his
name may be made to the New Hampshire SPCA, 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham,
NH 03885.
