Daniel J. Perley

Daniel J. Perley, 65, of Rowley, passed away peacefully at sunrise at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on October 3, 2021 with his family by his side.

Danny was born in Ipswich on February 18, 1956, son of the late Daniel A. and Norma H. (Jakway) Perley. He grew up on The Neck and attended Ipswich public schools, a graduate member of the Class of 1974. He later moved to Rowley, where he remained for the rest of his years.

The ocean and beach were his happy place. Any day spent on the boat was a perfect day - whether heading to the beach with his family and boating friends, going out for an early morning of fishing, or digging buckets and buckets of clams. After working in construction on roads and bridges, he followed his love of the ocean and continued working as a commercial shellfisherman.

Danny enjoyed he simple things in life: morning coffee at the landing catching up with his buddies, a plate of overpriced fried clams, watching his grandpup, and the annual “Perley Planting Day” where he helped Danielle and Nicole set-up their tomato plants.  Danny always made sure his daughters knew they were the light of his life; especially how proud he was of the two of them. They will treasure his love forever and will miss his daily phone calls. He cared for others immensely, and this was shown in how he cared for his parents and for his forever best friend, Ellen Perley, who he is predeceased by, at the end of her journey with cancer.

Dan’s light will shine on the waves forever; may the ocean remind everyone of his memory. He will be loved and missed, but his girls will always remember him saying, “I love you, pal.”

Dan is survived by two daughters, Danielle M. Perley of Lynn, Nicole M. Perley of Revere and his sister, Patti Newhall of Ipswich. He was the brother of the late Lynda Perley, formerly of Ipswich.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Kaplan Family Hospice House for providing comfort and amazing care to him before his passing. Thank you to everyone, family and friends, who supported Dan and his family in this difficult and emotional time.

Private arrangements are under the direction of the Wittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
