Daniel J. Cole

Daniel J. Cole, 70, lifelong Ipswich resident died Tuesday, January 8,
2019 with his family by his side at Masconomet Healthcare Center in
Topsfield following a brief illness.
He was born on October 3, 1948 at Ipswich’s Cable
Memorial Hospital, the son of the late Bertram G. and Lucy M. (Gallant)
Cole. His childhood friends, who nicknamed him ‘Harry’ during a
reminiscent camping adventure, enjoyed roaming as kids throughout
Jeffrey’s and Great Neck. Dan was an Ipswich High School graduate, and
married Linda T. (Moore) Cole of Rockport in 1969. They made their home
and raised their two children in Ipswich. In 1979, he opened DANCO, his
first custom metal fabricating machine company, located in downtown
Ipswich. Over the years he continued his trade through semi-retirement
with M&H Engineering in Danvers.
He is survived by Linda Cole, a daughter, Carrie
(Cole) Cayer and her husband Shawn Cayer of Ipswich, a son, Dan T. Cole
and his wife Lynne of Georgia, and four grandchildren, Margaux and Dexter
Cayer and Morgan and Andrew Cole. He is also survived by three brothers,
Bertram J. Cole and wife Carol of South Carolina, Donald R. Cole and wife
Debra of Ipswich, and Robert L. Cole and wife Carla of Newton, NH, a
sister, LuAnn (Cole) McKenney and husband Paul of Seabrook, NH,
brother-in-law, Russell F. Moore and wife Kathy of Topsfield, several
nieces and nephews, his long-time best friend and cribbage opponent Joseph
Rosenberger of Ipswich, and many other supportive lifelong friends.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed Friday to a visitation from
10 am to noon, the time of his Funeral Service in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions in his name may be made to The Open Door Food Pantry at

or welcomed food donations that may be dropped off at Shaw's Market, 146
High Street, Ipswich.
