Cynthia (Bragdon) Cameron

Cynthia (Bragdon) “Cindy” Cameron, 76, lifelong resident of Essex and
loving wife of thirty-one years of Robert Cameron, died at the Kaplan
Family Hospice House in Danvers Wednesday, August 14, 2013 following a
short illness.
Born
in Beverly on July 17, 1937, Cindy was the daughter of the late Sydney
and Sarah (Burnham) Bragdon. She was raised in Essex a 1955 graduate of
Gloucester High School. She continued her education at Children’s’
Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1958. She received her
Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University and Master’s Degree from
Massachusetts State College in Framingham.
Cindy’s career includes serving as a Registered Nurse at local hospitals
including head nurse at the Salem Hospital’s Nursery. Cindy, an
instructor, taught nursing courses at Essex Agricultural School. She
and husband Bob established the George Fuller House Bed and Breakfast
Inn in Essex in 1984 from which they retired in 1995. Cindy, following
in the footsteps of her mother, was known as an excellent cook.
She
was an active volunteer and a long time member of the First Universalist
Church of Essex. She also served as a volunteer at The Essex Historical
Commission, The Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum, served
as a treasurer at SeniorCare Inc. of Gloucester, Treasurer at the
Friends of the Essex Council on Aging and volunteered with the Coast
Guard Auxiliary. Cindy will be lovingly remembered as the pastry chef
of the monthly “Gentlemen’s Breakfast” held at the Essex Senior Center.
In
addition to cooking she enjoyed many activities including sewing,
knitting, quilting, traveling, sailing, walking, gardening and she had a
particular love for Essex history.
In
addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by three children, William
Cameron and his wife Karen of FL, Robert Cameron and his wife Terri of
Marlborough, Annmarie Foley and her husband Shawn of Reading; five
grandchildren, James, Justin, Ryan, Chris and Norah; a brother George
Bragdon and his wife Dianne of Rowley; nieces Sarah Meserve and her
husband Gard and their daughter Angelica, Rachel Boynton and her husband
Justin and their son Elijah and loving cousins Helen Stewart and
Adelaide Jewett.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, August 20, 4 to 8 pm in the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Her funeral
service will be held Wednesday at 10 am in the First Universalist
Church, Main Street, Essex with interment in the Spring Street Cemetery,
Essex. Following interment all are invited to a luncheon at the
Waterline Center, Essex Shipbuilding Museum, Main Street, Essex, where
family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share
remembrances with Cindy’s Family. Memorial contributions in her name
