Constance (Sotiropoulos) Nicholson

Constance Nicholson, 99, of Ipswich, peacefully
passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in
Danvers. She was the wife of the late Peter W. Nicholson who passed in
December 2016.
Born in Ipswich on April 3, 1923 she was one of the
six children of the late Athanasios and Eleni (Vlahos) Sotiropoulos.
Constance was raised and lived her entire life in Ipswich. She was a
graduate of Ipswich High School, after which she worked at Sylvania in
Ipswich. Married in 1955, she and her husband Peter lived on Farley Ave
since 1957.
Throughout her life, Constance was devoted to her
church, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of
Ipswich. Serving as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, youth adviser,
a leader and president of the Mellissa women’s society, she worked
continuously and tirelessly supporting her church and fellow parishioners.
Most of all, she was a devoted wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, earning the love, admiration
and respect of each family member, without exception. Her life’s work was
to guide them all, working tirelessly to ensure that she was a positive
part of all their lives. By example and counsel, her mission was to guide
each family member to lead a fulfilling, happy, productive and respectful
life. She succeeded in that endeavor.
Constance is survived by a son, William A.
Nicholson and his wife Charlene of Ipswich; two daughters, Gail E. Griffin
and her husband Peter of Ipswich, Jeanne C. Donahue and her husband Kevin
of Rowley; six grandchildren, Christina L. Corsetti, Elita C. Nicholson,
John P. Griffin, Alex L. Griffin, Leah E. Denio, Angela M. Donahue; seven
great grandchildren, Kiley, Peter, Elpitha, Oscar, Griffin, Beau, Felix
and many nephews and nieces.
She was the grandmother of the late Peter C.
Nicholson and sister of the late Fotis Sotiropoulos, Arthur Sotis,
Patricia Young, Theodora Kafulides and Christine Sotiropoulos.
Her funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, August 6 at the
Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 8 Lafayette Road,
Ipswich, followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Memorial contributions in
her name may be made to Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox
Church.
