Clifford D. Whynott, Sr., 75, husband of Florence (Arena) Whynott,
died Thursday March 3, 2011 in his Ipswich home following a long
illness.
Born in Somerville July 29, 1935, son of the late Francis D. and
Matilda R. (Katka) Whynott, he was raised in Saugus, a graduate of
Saugus public schools. As a young man he was employed at several
auto dealerships before opening C & C Auto Parts in Beverly in 1970.
In June of 2010, he expanded his business to include the Ipswich
NAPA store which he has owned and operated with his two sons.
Some of Cliff’s favorite moments were spent at his camp that he
built in Bridgton, Maine. There he watched his children grow up,
and more recently enjoyed watching his grandchildren swim, water
ski, tube, fish, and sail. He also loved taking a sunset cruise
with family and friends around Woods Pond.
Cliff loved coaching his boys on the Ipswich Youth Hockey, where he
served as President of the Association. He also took great pride in
gardening and decorating his house and yard for the various
holidays.
The
family would like to thank Dana Farber and Hospice of the North
Shore for the loving care they provided.
In
addition to his wife of forty-two years he is survived by two sons,
Clifford D. Whynott, Jr. and his wife Donna M. and David F. Whynott
and his wife Amy; three grandchildren, Lauryn, Tyler and Olivia
Whynott, all of Ipswich and several nephews and nieces. He was the
brother of the late Robert Whynott formerly of NH.
His
funeral will be held Monday March 7 at 8 am from the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by the celebration of
a Funeral Mass 9 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Road,
Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting
hours are Sunday 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions in his name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore,
