Christopher P. Grimes

Christopher P. Grimes, 60, longtime Ipswich resident, died Wednesday, May
6, 2020 in his Gloucester home following his ongoing illness.
Born in Ipswich on February 24, 1960, he was one
of the five children of the late Dr. Arthur J. Grimes, Jr.
and
the late Mary C. (Tozer) Grimes. Raised in Ipswich, Chris attended Ipswich
public schools, was a graduate of the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH,
then went on to attend Syracuse University and Bunker Hill Community
College. For several years he was employed as a Call Center Manager for
First Notice Systems in Medford. Later, following his passion, he worked
for several years as a sales representative for Cleveland Golf.
He
played golf, taught golf, and for years served as an assistant golf pro at
several Massachusetts courses. As a young man he also enjoyed and played
hockey.
Chris will be
remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit and intellect.
He is survived by a son, Sean C. Grimes of
Westford; a sister, Sheila M. Bodwell and her husband Bob; two brothers,
Arthur James Grimes, III, David M. Grimes and his wife Sharon, all of
Ipswich; his former wife, Jacqueline Grimes of Westford,
and
many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Stephen M. Grimes
formerly of Ipswich.
A private funeral service will be held graveside
in the Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Arrangements are under the direction of
the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in
name may be made to Moore’s Way, 23 Duncan St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
