Cecelia N. (O’Leary) Green

Cecelia N. (O’Leary) Green, 97, of Stage Hill Road, Ipswich, died Thursday, September 26, 2019 in the Kaplan Family Hospice, Danvers following her long illness.
Born in Boston on May 7, 1922 she was the youngest of the seven children of the late John and Margaret T. (Finnegan) O’Leary. She was raised in Jamaica Plain, attended parochial elementary school and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School.
Marrying Edward Green in 1943 she made her home for the next twenty-eight years in Jamaica Plain, relocating
to Ipswich in 1967.
She earned her associate’s degree in Culinary Arts from Essex Aggie in 1970 and went on to work as a sous chef. She had been employed at the Caldwell Nursing Home in Ipswich, the Hunter’s Inn in Hamilton and most recently, sisters of Notre Dame in Ipswich.
Cecelia will be remembered for her love of family, radiant spirt, zestful life, and home cooked meals.
She is survived by her five children, Sheila York and her husband Ralph of Salisbury, Michael Green and his wife Julianne of Newburyport, Maureen Dorr and her grandson John Dorr of Ipswich and Margaret Green of Beverly; grandmother of ten and great grandmother of six. She will be greatly missed and infinitely loved. She was the grandmother of the late Justin O’Leary and sister of the late Mary, Jack, Margaret, Thomas, Patrick, and Joseph O’Leary.
Her funeral will be held 8 am Tuesday, October 1 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in the Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially invited. Visiting hours are 5 to 8 pm Monday.  Interment will be in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
