Cathy J. (Marchese) Washnock
Cathy J. (Marchese) Washnock, 72, passed away peacefully at home on Monday
morning May 20, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Cathy,
the daughter of the late James and Alfreda Marchese, was born in
Christopher, Illinois, and raised in both Benton, Illinois, and Uniontown,
Pennsylvania, alongside her brother James Marchese of Pennsylvania.
Following her high school graduation she married James A. Washnock, with
whom she shared forty-three years of marriage before he passed away in
2011. Cathy was a retired Administrative Assistant at North Shore
Community College and was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Parish in
Ipswich. While she loved traveling, relaxing in Florida and spending time
at Crane Beach her favorite place to be was with her grandchildren. So
many special memories were shared with Madelyn Hanson, Olivia Maldonado,
David Hanson, Isla Washnock and Tillman Washnock. In addition to her five
grandchildren she is survived by her son, Mikkel Washnock and his wife
Effy of New Canaan, Conn.; her daughter Lauren Maldonado and her husband
Josh of Ipswich, and several generations of nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 am, Friday, May 24, at Our Lady of
Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are
respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of flowers the family
requests memorial contributions in her name may be made to the American
Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
