Catherine Emma (Gleason) Wanzer, 93,
wife of the late Glenfred A. Wanzer, passed away peacefully, on
Friday, December 31, 2010 at Beverly Hospital after a brief illness.
She will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
Born February 11, 1917 in Enosburg
Falls, Vermont to the late Claire Kimball Gleason and Martha
Prudence Ryan, Catherine graduated from Enosburg Falls High School
in 1935. She married her high school sweetheart Glenfred Wanzer, and
moved to Ipswich in 1946. Along with raising seven children,
Catherine was bookkeeper for her late husband’s business “Glen’s
Plumbing and Heating”, past Secretary for the United Methodist Women
and was past Secretary for the Kimball Family Association, in which
she took great pride. She was a gifted and talented pianist with a
natural ear and perfect pitch who performed with the Kimball Family
Orchestra in her early years, and often entertained the elderly and
local organizations later in life. Her interests ranged from bird
watching, reading and gardening to watching the Celtics and Red
Sox.
Catherine is survived by a son, Steven
Wanzer and his wife Lana of Huber Heights, OH; two daughters,
Katherine Carlsen of Andover and Sally Robertson and her husband
Barry of Danvers; her daughter-in-law, Margie Wanzer of Columbus,
GA, wife of her late son, Larry; her son-in-law Edward McDonald of
Peabody, husband of her late daughter, Judith; her daughter-in-law,
Susan Wanzer of Ipswich, wife of her late son, David; and her former
son-in-law, Raymond Judd, husband of her late daughter, Susan Judd
of Ipswich. Catherine also leaves 18 grandchildren and 21 great
grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held
Thursday, January 6, 11 am in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6
High Street, Ipswich following hours of visitation from 9 to 11 am.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions in her name may be made to the charity of one's
choice.
