Carolann (Sklarz) Collum, 79, of Agawam Village,
Ipswich, wife of the late Richard E. Collum, died Tuesday, November 16,
2021 at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington following her brief
illness.
Carolann was a lifelong resident of Ipswich. She
was born at the former Cable Memorial Hospital on July 31, 1942, one of
nine children of the late Alexander and Pauline (Sucharski) Sklarz.
Following graduation from Ipswich High in 1960, she was married to Richard
Collum with whom she shared forty-one years, making a home in town and
raising their three sons. For
many years she enjoyed working for the Ipswich Public School Department in
the cafeteria watching over her boys and their friends. She was also
employed at the Castle Hill Estate in Ipswich and the St. Lawrence
Literary Society. As a member of the St Lawrence Literary Society in
Ipswich, she was involved in many of the community events, giving freely
of her time and talents. She
played cribbage on several leagues and was undoubtedly an avid Boston
sports fan, wearing sports memorabilia and cheering on her teams with her
large family and many friends.
Knitting was her favorite hobby and donated countless beanies for
newborns at several hospitals. It has been said, she may have broken a
record for knitting the most dishcloths in Ipswich and rest assured all
family members received them as gifts.
Carolann is survived by her two sons, Mark R.
Collum and his partner Karen Egounis and Gary E. Collum both of Ipswich;
four grandchildren, Brynne Collum of Beverly, Christian and Randyll Collum
of Ipswich and Chyna Rinaldi of Peabody, all who will miss her dearly.

by her eldest son, Michael T. Collum; daughter in law Lisa and
granddaughters Lindsay and Carly Collum all formerly of Ipswich; a brother
Edward Sklarz and three sisters, Cynthia Lemieux, Eleanor Riley and
Barbara Martel all formerly of Ipswich.

2021 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich
