Bruce C. Cutler

Bruce C. Cutler, 71 of Elm Street, died Monday July 10, 2017 in his
home. Born in Ipswich February 28, 1946 son of the late Ormond and
Vera (Garrett) Cutler, he was raised in Ipswich, a 1964 graduate of
Ipswich High School. He served an enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard
as a yeoman aboard the icebreaker Eastwind. During his tour of duty
he had circumnavigated both the North and South poles.
Following his discharge he returned to Ipswich and was soon employed
as a firefighter for the Town of Ipswich, serving from 1972 until
his retirement in 1995. Bruce was married in 1975 and made his home
on Poplar Street and later resided on Heartbreak Road. A man of the
outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, clamming, lobstering the local waters
and hiking with his dogs.
Bruce was a lifelong and active member of the Ascension Memorial
Church, and the John T. Heard Masonic Lodge.
He
is survived by a son, Bradley G. Cutler of Lynn; a daughter, Camilla
A. Parisi and her husband Peter J. Parisi of S. Berwick, ME; two
grandchildren, Olivia C. and Kaya S. Parisi both of S. Berwick; a
brother, Garrett Cutler and his wife Lucinda Cutler of NY, NY; a
sister, Joyce Thompson and her husband Peter Thompson of
Newbury; nieces Emma Thompson Meyer and Merrill Thompson
Sabasteanski and two cousins, Bill Regan and Jon Clark Wile.
His
funeral will be held 10 am Saturday, July 22 in the Ascension
Memorial Church, 31 County St., Ipswich followed by interment with
Military Honors in the Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours will be 4 to 7 pm
Friday in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich with
a Masonic Service at 5:30 pm and a V.F.W. Service at 6 pm. In lieu
