Bradford M. Knowlton

Bradford M. Knowlton, 66 ,husband of Carolyn L. (Campbell) Knowlton of Addison Street, Essex, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Beverly Hospital following his sudden illness.

Born in Beverly December 10, 1949, son of the late Moses and Elizabeth F. (Floyd) Knowlton,  he was raised in Wenham and was a 1968 graduate of Hamilton-Wenham High School. He continued his education at Wentworth Institute, Boston, where he received his degree in engineering. During the Vietnam War he served in the Navy as a machinist mate first class. For over the next twenty-five years he was employed as a facilities manager in the high-tech field.  Most recently he was employed by Oliver Welding in Ipswich.

Mr. Knowlton enjoyed his time with his children, ballroom dancing, home gardening and antique and classic automobiles.

In addition to his wife of forty-one years he is survived by a son, Bradford M. Knowlton, Jr of Montana; a daughter, Tammy E. Knowlton and her fiancée’ Matthew Ercha of  Peabody; a sister, Beth B. Knowlton of Wenham; two brothers, Bruce F. Knowlton and his wife Hela of Salisbury, and William A. Knowlton and his wife Meredith of Oxford, ME; a mother-in-law, Carolyn Campbell of Essex, and several nephews and nieces.

His funeral service will be held 11 am Friday in the Spring Street Cemetery, Essex. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Essex Shipbuilders Museum, 66 Main StreetEssex, MA 01929 and or a charity of one’s choice.
