Barbara M. Robishaw, 91, of Derby, Vermont, passed away
peacefully on March 22, 2015 at her home.
She was born on November 23, 1923 in Ipswich, to the late James
and Hazel (Smith) McCormack. On July 11, 1942 she married Philip
L. “Jo Jo” Robishaw who predeceased her. Mrs. Robishaw moved to
Vermont in 1985 after JoJo retired.
She was past president of the Ladies Auxillary VFW Post 1093.
She volunteered for many different causes, North Country
Hospital, Old Stone House, and she was a caregiver for Orleans
Essex VNA and Hospice, Inc . She was a member of the Garden
Club, and she worked many years at the Ipswich Recreational
Department. In her younger years she enjoyed boating, fishing,
and going to the beach with Phil and the children.
She is survived by her children, Joe L. Robishaw of Derby, and
Nancy B. Simmons and her husband Ronald of Beverly, twenty-six
grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; by her brothers,
Richard McCormack and his wife Shirley of NH and James McCormack
and his wife Kay of MA and by several nieces and nephews. She
was predeceased by two sisters Ruth Stackhouse and Maryann
Lincoln.
Friends may call from 6-7 pm on Wednesday March 25, 2015 at the
Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill
Road, Newport, Vermont. Burial will take place on Friday March
27, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery in Ipswich.
Visitation will precede interment from 1-2 pm in the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich on Friday.
