Barbara M. (Cahill) Chase, 96, of Skytop Road, Ipswich, formerly of
Newburyport and West Newbury, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the
Seaview Retreat, Rowley following a brief illness. She was the wife
of the late John Chase who died in 1973.
Born in Newburyport May 16, 1917 daughter of the late Frederick and
Susan Cahill, she was raised in Newburyport and was a graduate of
Newburyport public schools. The Chases made their home on State
Street in Newburyport, and for more than thirty years on Main Street
West Newbury, and in recent years, residing with her nephew Robert
Ryan and family in Ipswich.
Barbara was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed hours of backyard bird
watching and will be remembered by many for her quick wit and smile.
She was a beloved aunt and great aunt and a loving sister to her
eight late siblings.
Her funeral will be
held 9 am Thursday, January 23 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral
Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by the celebration of a
Funeral Mass 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Green
Street, Newburyport. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
Interment will be in the Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport.
