Barbara (Graffum) Chapman

Barbara Chapman, 82, of Exeter, NH, former longtime
resident of Ipswich and wife of the late Roland Chapman, died peacefully
early Thursday December 20, 2018 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in
Brentwood, NH.
Barbara Hazel Graffum was born in Ipswich on
November 14, 1936, daughter of the late Edward S. and Edna M. (Wile)
Graffum. She was raised in Ipswich, where she married and raised her
family. In retirement she and her husband moved to Exeter NH
where she was a supporter of her Water Street Community. She had served as
the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Exeter Housing
Community and for several years as President to the Tenant Council.
Along with being a wife and mother, she was an aunt, a cousin, and a good
friend, and will be sadly missed by all.
Barbara is survived by her four loving children,
Randy Chapman and his wife Karen of Wells, ME, Gary Chapman and his wife
Cynthia of Groveland, Tim Chapman and his wife Lisa of Salisbury, and
Janet Williams of Ft. Myers, FL, and a brother, James Graffum and his wife
Diane of Ipswich. She was also the devoted grandmother of Greg Williams of
Florida, Tammy Stanton and her husband John of Florida, Michael Chapman of
Maine, Ryan, Kyle and Zachary Chapman, all of Groveland and Jesse, Jake,
and Sam Chapman, all of Salisbury, and fortunate enough to enjoy her five
great grandchildren, Gregory, Madelyn and Aiden Williams and Christopher
and JJ Stanton. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Alan
Williams of Newmarket, NH. She was the sister of the late Connie M. Burke,
Doris Gerhold, Robert T. Graffum and Norman S. Graffum, all formerly of
Ipswich, and Nathaniel “Skippy” Graffum formerly of Holden.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday January 19 at 11 am, graveside
in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of
the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
