Annette Adele (Chasse)
Osborn, 94, fondly known as “Meme” to many, passed away on November
5, 2013, the same as she lived, surrounded by her family and
friends. She was the wife of the late Jonathan Carl Osborn.
Born on January 12,
1919 in Lynn, Annette was the daughter of the late Rene Joseph and
Blanche (April) Chasse. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from
Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1937. Annette married Carl
Osborn in 1939. Annette and Carl moved to Essex in 1947, where they
raised their family and lived ever since. Annette was an active,
longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she
was a Eucharistic Minister. Annette was also known for her
involvement with the Catholic Women’s Club, the church bake sales,
and the annual Christmas Fair. She was a recipient of a Cheverus
Service Award from Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley. She loved baking and
had an insatiable sweet tooth. Annette worked at Nichol’s Candy for
several years and served many years as an election worker for the
Town of Essex. She will be lovingly remembered for her deep faith,
her many hats, her smile, her knack for jokes, her rose-colored
glasses and for always finding something kind to say to everyone.
She is survived by six
of her children, Joan Imbrunone and her husband Nicholas of
Gloucester, Jonathan Osborn and his wife Retha of Wilmington, DE,
Richard Osborn and his wife Sandra of Essex, Carla Symonds of Essex,
Paul Osborn and his wife Lori of Gloucester, and Matthew Osborn and
his wife Laura of Norwich, VT. In addition, she is survived by a
sister-in-law, Carmen Barry of Beverly, a daughter-in-law, Jill
Karlen Osborn of Groveland, several nieces and nephews, and
twenty-one grandchildren, Julie (and Jimmy) Douglass, Vinny (and
Steve) Brickett, Nicole (and Joe) Curcuru, Jonathan (and Szuhua)
Osborn, Sarah (and Henry) Gerkens, Toby (and Lara) Osborn, Heather
Osborn, Chasse Osborn, Karl Osborn, April Osborn, John (and Sue)
Symonds, Mandi Symonds, Aimee (and Lucas) Servideo, Norri Zakharchuk,
Raymond (and Boram) Symonds, Justin (and Romina) Symonds, Chelsea
Osborn, Kinsey Osborn, Darcey Osborn, Annette E. Osborn and Patrick
Osborn, and twenty-one great grandchildren, whom she loved very
much, as well as many special friends. She will be missed beyond
measure. In addition to her husband Carl of fifty-nine years, she
was predeceased by a son, Mark Osborn formerly of Essex and a sister
Rita Bancroft formerly of NY.
The family would like
to offer a special thanks to Beacon Hospice who was most helpful in
the family’s time of need.
A Funeral Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday at St. John
the Baptist Catholic Church, Essex followed by interment at the
Spring Street Cemetery, Essex. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. Visiting hours will be held in the church on Friday from 4
to 7 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home of Ipswich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions
in her name may be made to Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church
of Essex, 52 Main St., Essex, MA 01929,
