 Anne Marie (Marc-Aurele) Thatcher

Anne Marie Thatcher, 90, formerly of Agawam Village, Ipswich, died peacefully Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the D’Youville Life and Wellness Community in Lowell.

Born in Ipswich on October 29, 1930 she was one of the four children of the late Arthur P. and Bertha (Duguay) Marc-Aurele of Ipswich. Anne was a 1948 graduate of St. Christienne Academy of Salem. She continued her education at the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing graduating as an LPN. Married in 1952, the Thatchers made their home on Upper River Road where they raised their family. She resided in Nagasaki, Japan, Kailua, HI with family and several years in Plymouth, NH before returning to her hometown.

During many of these years, Anne was employed at the Beverly Hospital and Cable Hospital as an LPN and served as a teacher’s aide in both the Doyon School in Ipswich and in the Plymouth, NH school system.

Anne enjoyed being outdoors, tennis, home gardening and birdwatching, as well as international travel, She had a strong spirit and enjoyed her life.

She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Hope Parish.

She is survived by a son, John G. Thatcher, III and his wife Karen of Billerica; two daughters, Susan Martin of Merrimack, NH; Rebecca Thatcher-Lord and her husband Thomas of Campton, NH; six grandchildren, Stephanie LoSquadro and husband Patrick of Merrimack NH; Timothy Martin and his wife Nicole of Amherst, NH; Sarah Lord and her partner Ralph of Epping, NH; Chad Lord and his wife Kristen of Newtown Square, PA; John G. Thatcher IV and Samuel Thatcher both of Billerica, Ma; four great-grandchildren, Vivian and Ava Lord, Brynn Martin and Nora LoSquadro. She was the sister of the late Richard, Brian and Leo Marc-Aurele all formerly of Ipswich.

Her funeral service will be held graveside July 16, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
