Anna M. (Dragoni) Adams, 87, formerly of Liberty Street,
Ipswich, and wife of sixty-seven years to the late Lawrence
O. Adams, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in the Blueberry
Hill Healthcare Center, Beverly following her long illness.
Born in Boston March 7, 1924, the daughter of the late
Nicholas and Angela (D’Ausilio) Dragoni, she was raised in
East Boston. At the age of sixteen she moved to Ipswich with
her family and was educated in local public schools,
graduating with the Class of 1942 from Ipswich High School.
Married in 1942, the Adams soon made their home and raised
their family at her late Liberty Street address. For fifty
of these years she was the owner and operator of Ann’s
Beauty Salon.
Mrs. Adams was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Parish
and Our Lady of Hope Church of Ipswich and was a lifetime
member and past president of the Ipswich Catholic Womans
Club. She and her late husband were active members in the
Wakefield Sons of Italy Post #1734.
She’ll be remembered by her family and friends as an
outstanding cook.
She is survived by one son, John L. Adams and his wife Paula
of Plymouth; three grandchildren, John L. Adams, Jr. and his
wife Jennifer of Cumberland, RI, Julie Adams Beuttel and her
husband Peter of Plymouth and Peter Adams and his fiance’
Jill of Plymouth; a great grandchild P.J. Beuttel of
Plymouth and a brother John Dragoni of Missouri. She was
the sister of the late Anthony Dragoni formerly of Maine and
Rita Avelis formerly of Salisbury
Her funeral will be held Tuesday 8 am from the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich,
followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass 9 am in Our
Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Monday
4 to 7 pm.
