Andrea S. Lane

Andrea S. Lane, 64, of Central Street, Ipswich, died early Saturday,
October 16, 2021 in Peabody following her brief illness.
Andrea was born in Boston on December 25, 1956, the daughter of the late
Franklin J. Lane and Susan C. (Friend) Lane. She was raised in Winchester,
later in Hingham, and graduated from Dana Hall School in Wellesley in
1974. She attended Iowa State University, returning home to study
elementary education and receiving her undergraduate degree from Tufts
University, and her Masters from Smith College. Over the years, Andrea
(Andi) held a variety of jobs. She worked at the Swan Boats of the Boston
Commons, as a teacher at The Atrium School and within the Salem School
district, as well as tutoring students. Andi had a huge love of animals.
She had a horse, Larry, for many years. She competed in horse shows often
and collected many trophies. She loved her dogs, Halley, and then Jake.
As a child and young adult, she spent summers at Camp SE-SA-MA-CA in NH,
as a camper, then as a counselor. She brought her horse with her and
taught riding lessons there. She was an active member of the Ascension
Memorial Church in Ipswich, serving as an Acolyte, regularly volunteering
at the Dinner Bell, and working with parish youth. She was ServSafe
certified and helped at church functions in this capacity. She also drove
senior parishioners to appointments. Andi loved children and will be
remembered for her constant generosity, willingness to help others, her
sense of humor, as well as her bright smile.
She is survived by a sister, Jenifer L. Ogilvy and her husband Michael of
Bedford, NH; a brother, ‘Skip’ Lane of Ipswich; a nephew, Benjamin Lane of
Ipswich; four nieces, Lynsey Merry of Rowley, Ashley Renwick of Wilton,
NH, Emily Ogilvy of Madbury, NH and Hanna Ogilvy of Merrimack, NH.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November
20 in the Ascension Memorial Church, 31 County Street, Ipswich. Family and
friends with facial masks are cordially welcomed. Arrangements are under
the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial
contributions in her name may be made to the Ipswich Humane Group, Box
873, Ipswich, MA 01938.
