Alexandria R. (Vetree) Davidson, 80, of Pineswamp Road, Ipswich, died Monday, December 22, 2008 in her son’s Ipswich home following a long illness. She was the former wife of the late Gustav V. Davidson formerly of Townsend.
Born in Melrose January 19, 1928, daughter of the late Michael V. and Rosamond (Nutter) Vetree, she was raised in Melrose and was a 1945 graduate of Melrose public schools.
For many years she lived and raised her family in West Peabody, moving to Ipswich in 2001. She was employed as an office manger for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program.
Her joy was her work and family.
She is survived by a son, Michael A. Davidson and his fiancee’ Amy Bonaiuto; a daughter Elaine Peebles and her husband James of MD; five grandchildren, Angela and Christina Peebles both of MD and Jill, Amanda and Michael Bonaiuto all of Ipswich. She is also survived by a sister Rosamond Woods of VA, many nephew, nieces, longtime care givers, Janice LaFreniere and Judy Gandolfo both of Peabody, Celeste of Associated Home Care and her faithful canine companion Newman.
Her funeral service will be held 11 am Monday Dec. 29, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich following a visitation from 9 to 11 am. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Interment will be in the Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
