Alfred M. Buccigrosso

Alfred M. Buccigrosso,
beloved husband, father, brother and friend, died Thursday, July 21,
2011 after fighting a long, courageous battle with Pulmonary
Hypertension.
Born April 10,
1948, he was raised in Swampscott, son of the late Alfred and Phyllis
Buccigrosso. After two years of college, he chose to enlist in the Army
serving his country in Vietnam and later graduated from Quinnipiac
College, Hamden, Connecticut. Upon his retirement in Jan 2010, he was
recognized for distinguished service during his thirty-eight year career
in the US Department of Defense, which allowed his family to embrace
life in Brussels, Belgium during the Partners for Peace
initiative at NATO. Al loved living in Ipswich where he spent endless
summers at Crane’s Beach.
He is survived by
his wife of thirty-eight years, JoAnn (Ranta), his son, Matt of South
Boston; his daughter, Tess of Stafford, VA, two sisters, Mary Roche
(Mrs. Tom) of St. Augustine, FL and Anne Shea (Mrs. Joseph) of Danvers,
as well as his nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass
will be offered Tuesday July 26 at 11 am at Christ the Redeemer Anglican
Church, 62 Eliot Street, Danvers. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. Visiting hours will be Monday 6 to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, donations made
be made to Bethany Christian Services, 820 Turnpike Street #101, N.
